Red Riders' New Song: Hear It Now!

Red Riders' brand new single 'You've Got A Lot Of Nerve' hits radio next week, but there are a few places you can hear it now! The band is streaming it from their lovely Myspace page (where they also share wondrous tales from faraway lands) and triple j's Home + Hosed also has a bit of a write-up about it here. The guys' second album 'Drown In Colour' will be with you on July 3, and we can tell you it's quite the record. Enjoy...

SYDNEY: SPARKADIA PARTY TIMES THIS WEEKEND!

Sparkadia have been selling out shows here there + everywhere on their 'Auf Wiedersehen' tour, but there's one more to go. Catch the guys (yes, they are currently all guys) at The Factory this Saturday night, April 4. We strongly suggest getting your ticket asap as this show WILL sell-out. Sparkadia are also moving to Berlin soon so unless you love them so much that you'll follow them there, this will be your last chance to see them play for a very long time. Boo hoo.

CLOUD CONTROL JOIN THE LEAGUE!

We are bloomin' excited to announce that Cloud Control has joined our ranks. This four-piece from the Blue Mountains near Sydney has been a long-time favourite of the League, so we are very happy to say we'll be releasing their debut album later this year.

Inspired by the great melody makers of our time, Cloud Control embrace the alt-folk tradition with Neil Young-inspired vocals, inventive pop melodies and old-time girl/boy harmonies from an era when pop music was pure and – well – just made you smile.

Lots more on Cloud Control to share with you down the track, but in the interim, have a little listen here and be sure to catch them on the road with Josh Pyke throughout February and March.

RED RIDERS WANT TO PLAY YOU NEW SONGS!

Red Riders are putting the finishing touches on their second album and want to play YOU brand new songs the day after they get out of the studio!

In a special one-off show, the Sydneysiders will be performing tracks from their forthcoming album 'DROWN IN COLOUR'. The highly anticipated follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut 'Replica Replica' will be released later this year, and promises big things. The Riders have again worked with producer Woody Annison on the album, and will be playing new songs when they grace the stage of the very intimate Spectrum, Sydney on February 25.

This will be your only chance to catch the guys before they head off to the USA where they'll play shows in LA, NYC and at South by Southwest. Don't miss out, and keep your ears peeled for new songs from Red Riders hitting the airwaves in the coming months!

SPARKADIA SAY AUF WIEDERSEHEN WITH A STRING OF SHOWS

No, Sparkadia haven't been kicked off Project Runway, but they are about to relocate to Berlin, Germany. They're heading to the Northern hemisphere to write and record the follow-up to their acclaimed 2008 debut 'Postcards'. As a little way of saying Auf wiedersehen to all their Australian fans who have shown so much support over the past year, the band will be playing a string of shows before they pack their bags. They'll be supported by Brisbane's very fine John Steel Singers and Sydney's The Jezabels. Tickets are on sale now – it'll be quite some time before Sparkadia play on their home turf again, so get in quick! All details in our Dates section.

Our friends there have very kindly offered to display it for the duration of the auction....

JOSH PYKE TO AUCTION HIS GUITAR BOAT FOR CHARITY

Josh Pyke's headline-grabbing guitar boat will be auctioned on eBay next month with a minimum of 60% of the proceeds going to the Indigenous Literacy Project.

The extraordinary vessel was created for the music video for Josh's single 'Make You Happy', which saw Josh cruise around Sydney Harbour in the custom-made SS Maton. The clip was the #1 featured video on YouTube worldwide, and created waves across the globe. During filming, images of the guitar boat made their way into international newspapers and spread rapidly across the internet, with praise for the guitar boat flowing from all corners of the world.



"Seeing the guitar boat clip spread around the world has been one of the highlights of releasing this album so far," says Josh. "I love the idea that its charm will now go towards helping something I'm passionate about." The Indigenous Literacy Project raises urgently needed funds to address the literacy crisis in remote Indigenous communities.

The guitar boat auction will go live on February 2, 2009 and end on Thursday, February 12, 2009 the day that Josh kicks off his national 'Chimney's Afire' album tour in Fremantle, WA. The album, Josh's second, hit the charts at a phenomenal #3 (#1 on the Australian chart) and has been a favourite with critics and fans alike.

YOUTH GROUP Prepare For Foreign Soil

We are delighted to announce the inclusion of Youth Group to SXSW 2009 next March. Being handpicked from over 10,000 applicants world wide, Youth Group will be joining a roster roughly 1,800 deep that will be hosting some of the biggest names in music, alongside some of the freshest upcoming talent around the globe today.

If you haven't seen a previous SXSW roster list, we suggest you do a bit of research. But we advise a stress ball be within arms reach as you're likely to develop a thick vein in the centre of you're forehead when you see the calibre of bands that play there.

This tremendous news comes hand in hand with the band recently signing a deal with the uber cool World’s Fair Label Group (Jarvis Cocker, Dandy Warhols, Devendra Banhart, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings among others).

After SXSW the band will be making their way up to New York to play even more shows!!

It's been quite a ride for Youth Group this year. Not only have the band released one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2008, they literally haven't sat still.Touring alongside Interpol, playing a round of select intimate shows, making videos, heading out on a massive national tour with friends theredsunband, and now the band prepare to conquer the Big Day Out Nationally!!!

This will be one of the last times to see Youth Group before they jump onto a plane and carve their initals into foreign soil.
